Timber or wood frmae buidling has become very popular in South Africa recently, whilst it has been used for years in countries all over the world.

Timber frame building is environmentally-friendly, thermally efficient, string durable, lightweight and is suited to all types of climate. Most of the timber used in South Africa is harvested from sustainably managed forests. More and more designers and architects are incorporating timber in their new projects and designs which is evident in the local property market.

As members of the TFBA you the client receive the TFBA's maxim "seal of controlled quality" assures not only the financial institutions, but you too, that in the contracting with a TFBA member, your investment is secure and will result in a well built, structurally sound, thermally efficient, safe and comfortable structure. One that conforms to SANS 10082 - national standard for timber buildings.

2. You have the assurance that the Association is recognized as the industry's representative organisation, and is very proud of it's 26 year untarnished track record.

3. You qualify for Timbersure - the TFBA's own insurance policy which was designed fro timber buildings, built by TFBA builders. This policy offers extremely competitive premiums to clients, including household and All Risks cover, and also provides Contract Works insurance. Peace of mind while your home is under construction.

4. In general your plans are passed and processed far quicker by local authorities and your bond is approved expiditiously when these organisations know the builder is an approved TFBA member.

5. In the event of a dispute, you are assured of unbiased mediation, alleviating the need for costly legal intervention.
